Can I have an old infraction lifted?

Hello matthew/KiwiNZ (and co?),

I have been helping people out in the forums for almost a year now, and I find nothing that better leavens my mundanity than to find an obscure problem with a user and help them solve it, which, in turn teaches me more about working towards finding a solution to any problem I may run into.

End of May, shortly after being voted onto the Ubuntuforums-Beginners Team, I woke up to find I had received an Infraction from LaRoza, and truth be told, I seem to have no recollection of even making the post. Though I am not denying it was me. But the previous night, I was out with some friends and new faces celebrating my birthday, and I always bring out my Laptop with me to use, as there is always free wifi at the bar. Reasons for bringing it are not just for my personal use (forums, rss feeds, news), but for other people to use as well for their daily tasks (facebook, myspace, email). So chances am I would have been logged into the forums when someone else was using my Laptop to check their email, or to do some tomfoolery, and chances am that they may have had a browse round the forums in the process.

Excuses aside, there is no excuse for it. I find it rather offensive myself, and if given half the chance, I was have infractioned myself for it. Though, it doesn't seem like something I would say - ultimately, I am sorry for any damage it may have done.

But, to the point, since it is the New Year, I was wondering if perhaps I could get the Infraction lifted? Or just have the link to the post removed from my profile? I would prefer to start the new year on a clean slate, as it is part of my new years resolution to find a proactive path into Ubuntu (might have a talk to Nathan Handler some time over the next fortnight about joining Launchpad, getting my head around bzr, pbuilder, and how to setup my own ppa), and I'd rather not this be a worry to me in the future.

Anyway, thanks for reading.

Regards Iain

[EDIT] Woah! Is this post too big?
