[SOLVED] Did my tutorial get approved?

Hi, I just recently posted a tutorial in the "Tutorials and Tips" forum, after which I got a message saying a forum staff member would first look at it, before it would be visible, and they would decide whether or not to approve it. However, it has been a couple of hours since I posted it, and I haven't received any message saying whether or not it was approved... :confused: Is this normal?

It would be much appreciated if someone would look into this...:)

I would give 24-48 hours before even asking after all I'm sure they weren't sitting waiting for you to submit it, there are other things going on and they would have to check it out first.

Indeed...I understand that, but I just didn't think that it would take even this long, much less 24-28 hours! :( As a matter of fact, I wasn't aware that that forum was any different than all the other forums, where your post has to be "approved" before it will be even visible! :( And I was also wanting to make a few changes, which is of course not possible until my thread becomes visible...

You're welcome. You have to keep in mind that the Admins here do their best to make sure there is nothing in a how to that could cause damage to someones system such as hidden (coded) commands which could be dangerous if ran.

They are looking out for the community in general and they do it by the goodness of their hearts. They're as far as I know not getting paid for their expertise. So it's best to be patient.

You thought of something that you want to add to it. They may notice that something is missing as well and offer some suggestions for you so they may be busy typing it up. Although I doubt they will make the changes themselves after all it's your how to.

I understand. :) Its nice to know they're doing their best to protect this community, and so it warms me that they're checking out my how-to, although I can personally (although I know this means nothing, since people who mean harm probably say it a lot) state that there is nothing harmful in my tutorial, at least not if everyone follows my advice to backup all their data before resizing a partition! :) I made sure to warn to do this several places in the tutorial, so if anything gets messed up, it will most likely be due to a user's misreading. :D

Ah...ok! :) Thanks! :D Actually, I just did a bit of editing on it already...but its not exactly the way I want it just yet, so I will post back here when its finished! :D

It is nearly finished! :D The only thing my tutorial is lacking at the moment is how to revert back to the way things were before tri-booting...hopefully I will be able to add that by tomorrow! :)

It's worth bearing in mind that it is the festive season, and staff probably have family and friends commitments outside the forum which may limit their time and availability or they could simply be away on their hols.

If it helps, I am awaiting approval for a tut too, so you are not alone.. just be patient, and accept that these things can take time to ensure they are safe to publish, and that whether we think they need to go into the tuts and tips section, the mods may feel the community is better served by placing it elsewhere.

You can get around this by posting elsewhere, e.g. just recounting your experiences or targeting a specific forum area.

Just wanted to point out that it is now Jan 12th (fixing to be the the 13th...) of 2009, and I have still received no word on whether my tutorial was approved or not...or even if it has even been looked at by the forum staff! ;)

Had trouble finding the thread you were talking about, since it was technically approved, it was just moved to another forum. I doubt any of the staff members knew of it apart from this thread since approved threads don't show up in the queue anymore.

Given the massive amount of edits from the thread changelog and the depth of the tutorial, I think it qualifies perfectly. Moved! :)
