I like Dust's Metacity theme better, but the icons are nice, I like it that they're shiny on a dark background. Just make the folder icons a bit smaller perhaps. Make the toolbar underneath the menu bar dark too, to keep the contrast. The fact that the buttons are smaller or thinner feels slick, but I don't know if I would want this as default. I personally like prominent symbols on my buttons. The wallpapers are boring, we need something comfortable and eye-catching at the same time, the Hardy Heron default wallpaper is a good example. In the first screenshot, how did you get Compiz to do that? I'm only familiar with Wall and Cube for switching workspaces, neither of which would give me that!

#3

I am glad you like, not what I have done with compiz. is made with gimp jeje

pd:i'm working for new wallpaper

Alegre has reached version 1.0 with several changes

1.0

-gtk windows are more grey and more neutral

-metacity unfocused comes more neutral

-icons had many bugs, I have decided to change the default icons to human because it is the default in the distribution ubuntu

-add 2 new wallpaper

-correct bugs gtk and depure code

####################################3 I would be very helpful if you tell me that you like and you do not like

thanks ;)

I like this! It maintains the Ubuntu color scheme, it is user friendly, and it is not overpowering. I even like the wallpaper! Nice work!

#6

I agree with flimm, a better wallpaper with the Jackalope some where in it.

#7

I like it but the wallpaper has to go, we need a jackalope somewhere

#8

Why do you need a Jackalope somewhere?. Can't we have a nice looking stylish wallpaper. If this is used in the business sector. A wallpaper with a rabbit and horns is the last thing you want!.

#9

Thats Why we have secondary or extra wallpapers with every release of Ubuntu.

But Like almost every release we need to keep the "Iconic" theme according to the new Name of the release.

I am sorry that this year animal is a bit too not so professional looking.

Well for all the orange/human lovers that want to try something new, I have been constantly working on my Icon set called Mashup. It has a balance of aero, crystal, glass, oxygen, and tango icons as well as many not found in other sets. It works great on Intrepid, and as soon as an alpha comes out in Jaunty, I will be fitting it for that as well. I try to balance it between both light and dark themes as well.

Thanks Billy

For the record, I'd like a better wallpaper, not necessarily one with the Jackalope in. 'Jaunty Jackalope' is only a codename and doesn't have to be visible to the end user.

#17

Modern-stylish looking icons will look good.

#18

Alegre's good!

#19

I really like the cracked dirt wallpaper. It fits with Ubuntu's mud look (called human for some reason) and it even makes the coffee bars at the top and bottom look good.

Yep! Make a brown theme Ubuntu's default theme, and everybody will believe that Ubuntu is about dirt or, something else.

#21

the ubuntu-theme of this theme (its included in the package) is the best for jaunty. does someone have contacts to the ubuntu-artwork-team and could show them this? please dont forget: i only mean the gtk-theme! for a metacity-theme i recommend an another one that isnt so mac-ish. please try the theme!

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Murrina+Crystal?content=96065

and for the metacity this looks good:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/HumanBorderless?content=92604

try it and you will like it. more ubuntu is not possible in this modern look! thanks for checking it out and maybe show it to the ubuntu-artwork-team!

I like the cream a lot better than the coffee.

#24

I don't like the latest one. Not against creme, but don't like how the buttons look.

#25

what do you mean by "cream"? especially the buttons are beautiful. remember: its no pixmap!

The first none I saw on this thread was a mud looking color, like coffee. This new one is lighter, creamier.

The buttons look standard. I don't love or hate them myself. Check out these buttons though:
