Hello all: I am quite new to Linux, so I am probably overlooking something fairly obvious.
I have downloaded the demo for Dominions 2 from here. The game runs fine, so far as I have run it. However, I don't have any sound. Now, I may very well have not played far enough into the game for there to be any sound, but I rather suspect it is not working for me. It also may be that the demo has no sound?
Sound seems to be a hit or miss thing for me in games. I had it once, briefly in a Neverwinter Nights install, but I borked that install and have never since been able to have sound no matter how many times I reinstalled the game. Doom3, however, had sound from the get-go, so I am pretty sure it is just an issue of me not knowing what I am doing at this point.
My soundcard is a Creative Audigy2 ZS. It is selected as the default soundcard for my system. My motherboard is an Asus somehtingorother that has onboard sound.
I have sound for DVD's, MP3's and such, but for games it is hit or miss. Either a game will have sound right out of the box, or it will not. I suspect I may be missing a package or two to enable sounds across the board for games but, as a very new user, I don't know which package it might be.
Any ideas?
