As the topic states I wanna know if it's possible to use an external ISDN modem in place of an external dialup modem (like most dialup linux users use). I know ISDN is digital and POTS-dialup is analogue but i still want a yes or no from someone who is more knowledgable. I really don't want to spend either $35-50 for an external serial POTS-dialup modem or $15 for drivers from conexant. Thanks for ANY response!! :smile:

Don't know if I understand your question. I am using an ISDN. If you have an ISDN line then you must use an ISDN adapter to access the line. You can then connect a POTS modem to the ISDN terminal adapter. Is that close to what you are asking?
I want to ask something similar.. I have an external ISDN modem.. (PLANET UI-1281) HOW can i install it..? In device manager it recognises it but the leds on modem are showing its not connected to the pc.. :confused:
PLEASE help me.... (I am a beginner with linux and ubuntu)
