Is it just me, or has this been discussed many times before? ;)

Already been covered pretty well... Read here: Let's copy Windows 7's UI!

To repeat a thought from the aforementioned thread, it does look much like KDE4's taskbar.

I'm still waiting for someone to try to make a KDE taskbar that actually looks like this, therefore justifying this bogus claim.

Okay, imagine the openSUSE or KDE logo instead of the Windows logo, and it's pretty close, though not exact. ;)

openSUSE TCS screenshots Another random openSUSE screenshot Also, KDEmod on Chakra. Finally, KDE 4.1 from the main website.

The style used by openSUSE has more of a Mac look to it, with the smooth gradients and subtle colors. The style used by Kubuntu looks like a puked-up version of Vista.

In my opinion, the Win7 taskbar looks cleaner because it isn't cluttered with applets. Sure, KDE's applets are an advantage over Windows, but they tend to clutter up the taskbar really, really fast.

Or, we could imagine the Vista taskbar without a gradient.
