Just received ubuntu cd's yesterday. The install acutually goes well, but when the systems enters the GNOME desktop, my screen goes black. I can tell GNOME is operating, because I can hear the same sounds from the machine when I click on the menus as I hear when I click on the GNOME desktop menu items on my son's machine (amd duron 700 mHZ running ubuntu live). I see no options to see what monitor settings are being used for the GNOME desktop. Please help.
