Again, we had a discussion about how to become ubuntu developer. It is in FAQ, but it has little different twist. OP was still there, learning and even thanking for discussion. Of course, it was heated, but not too much, pretty tame compared to wars a year ago - except new UF member namecalling people who he disagreed, but that's business as usual.

And again, just as we cleared misunderstanding and were close to 'learnig experience' for the speed kiddie/troll, thread was moved to 'Recurring discussion'.

If issue is namecalling, IMHO much better option would be to warn the troll, and not let him win. Because if mods will allow him to move discussion into recurring, others UF memebrs will not learn how to dispute, disagree, and not descend to flamewars. It was not flamewar yet.

IMHO we in PT are much better in handling these flamewars now, but for every new opinionated member, new one is started, and he needs to learn how to disagree without namecalling. Moving the discussion into recurring does not teach that.

So maybe there was different reason for that move? Is it done repeatedly because that mod supports 'speed kiddies' against 'pro-Python' group? Is it done because he personally dislikes some posters, and this is a way to hurt them without getting involved with own POV in the discussion?

Just wondering.

The move to recurring discussion is most appropriate.

These types of threads occur all too frequently the Program talk and descend into silly flamewars due to zealots pushing their own fan language etc. It needs to stop.

Some of the participants have been warned several times in the past.

I will review the thread again , and others and there is likely to be infractions and possible bans as a result.

I have closed a number of threads in the program talk area. There is way to much name calling , abuse and general bad behaviour in this area. The code of conduct is there for a reason, it is not optionaland it applies tothe program talk area. The current trend seem to be , ignore the code of conduct.This has to change.

I am going to continue to monitor this area.
