bali i have a problem right now. i have ubuntu and kubuntu cd. i installed the ubuntu kasi yun yung sikat. tas i tried also yung kubuntu pero yung hindi intalled. maganda yung interface nung kubuntu. pwede naman na ilagay yung KDE desktop on ubuntu pero you should an internet connection pero ako wala. sa tingin nyo i have to switch to kubuntu? ano advantage ng ubuntu sa kubuntu vice versa. pls. reply ASAP. thanks

i second the motion.
pareho tayo dre ng dilema regarding ubuntu and kubuntu. for me mas-cool ang kubuntu kaso masnadadalian ako gamitin ang ubuntu kaya sa ubuntu ako nag-stay although naka wubi sa home desktop namin si kubuntu para makita ko rin evolution nya.
Hahaha. Ang sagot diyan ay isang dahilan ng malaking debate para sa mga sumusuporta ng bawat isa. Hehehe, karaniwan, nagkakaroon ng flame wars dahil sa tanong na yan, pero dahil pinoy naman tayo at hindi miyembro ng kulto ng gnome o kde - ok lang :)
Anyway sana makatulong ang sagot ko sa iyo:
- may nagsasabi na ang isa ay mas mabilis sa isa (vice versa)
- may mga program na maganda para sa iba na available sa gnome at vice versa.
- personally: para sa akin, mabagal pareho kaya ang ginagamit ko ngayon ay ICEWM - kaya nga lang mukhang windows 95 hehehe. Pero gusto ko ang mga sumusunod na programa:
Sa Gnome/Ubuntu: a. pidgin - IM, b. File Browser (ala windows explorer) - Nautilus
Sa KDE a. Number one numero uno kong paborito ang - Amarok Media Player
Tama ang sabi nung mga nasa taas. Kung saan trip mo. Mas maganda nga lang talaga pag may internet connection ka.
Hindi ko pa nasusubukan yung kubuntu and would like to try it. kaya lang hooked na ko sa ubuntu (gnome). Iba rin talga kapag may internet connection, updates and other stuff are easy.
Baka pag labas nung jaunty try ko naman yung kubuntu. :D
wla kang internet? I assume you won't have to worry about KDE's poor firefox integration.. kung ako sau, Kubuntu ako.. It's way prettier and has more very useful features than Gnome/Ubuntu.

kasi one time i like to make a vcd para sa erpat ni girlfriend. avi file cya ni rex navarette. i tried brasero kaso ayaw nya mag-burn so i installed k3b and nag-burn naman.
i'm making myself familiar with kde na. di talaga cya easy on first try gamitin but im sure masasanay rin.

hmm.... k3b also worked on ubuntu ginamit ko sa pagburn ng music video....anyway tama lahat kung saan ka masaya, have it your way...:popcorn: tux is always right beside u kung kailangan mo ng tulong.
yup... i installed k3b on ubuntu.
nag-live cd ako ng kubuntu last time..ang ganda nga ng KDE 4.1(hindi ko maalala).Classic ang dating.pero GNOME pa din ako. Pero pag nag ibex na ako baka KDE at Gnome para masubukan.. sir ton_raf kaw pa din bahala.. pareahas naman maganda.
thanks sa suggestion nyo sakin bali i've decided to go with kubuntu. i installed ubuntu sa virtual machine na lang. so under testing pa rin ako. hehehe problem ko nagyon is how to install apllication on both OS kasi lahat ata ng apllication is kelangan ng net. meron yung gagamit ka ng source file pero di ko alam kung paano yun can you give me tutorials?
im sure someone will be willing to give you a burned copy pero just in case ship-it mo na lang

I'm happy to report that I'm back with Ubuntu after a month long romance with Kubuntu and KDE 4.2.
I'll surely miss ktorrent (for having that fast download like deluge... i really hate the default transmission) and kopete (for the webcam support). Overall, I love KDE.
So what makes me go back to gnome? One reason. Francis M. :D
layo noh? pero the story goes like this... di ba he died last friday. Eh as tribute to him gusto ko sana lagyan ng Francis M songs ipod nano ko but Amarok2 won't recognize my ipod.
After researching, eh the only resolution is to use gtkpod (wala bang qtpod?). I really use gtkpod with gnome before and it really does the job.

Anyway, i love that new notification applet on jaunty. Kaso parang may problem pa yung mobile broadband nya eh. Di na detect yung ZTE MF622 (PLDT WeRoam Plan) pero ok naman sa intrepid. Di ko pa na try yung Huawei E220 (Sun Broadband) kung ok. yun lang po.

I know pare... gnome user for a year ako and everything just works. kaso parang naluma cya after trying KDE 4.2.1. :D
