ubuntu for phones?

Hello,

I saw a picture of an ubuntu desktop with what looked like a phone signal thingy.. Is there an ubuntu version for some advanced types of mobile phones? If so, could someone please show me how to get that?

Actually, after I posted that, I started looking for a picture of what I was talking about and think I may have made a silly mistake.. I think this might be what I saw before: http://www.slurpy.org/s/i6vp4s/ubuntu/index_php/ and confused the T-Mobile wireless for T-Mobile.

Though I really hope there's still a version you can install on your phone like the android or something. Anyone know of such a thing?

Anyone? I know there's one of those minipc versions, but I was hoping someone knew of something for a high end phone...

you are seeing a laptop with a t-mobile evdo card tethered .

you may look into mid, mid is the closest to a phone as you can get.

it refers to "mobile internet device"

i'm pretty sure the second it came out, apple would find a way to make it as difficult as possible to use anyting other than the mac os on an iphone

I heard that Asus came out with a prorotype phone that ran Ubuntu, and showed it at a conetion somewhere.

When Microsoft found out, they told Asus to stop promoting it, or else they'd cut support to Asus products.

The next day, people were coming to see that 'cool phone', only to find out that 'it never happened'.

How sad.

Man...

I really want to remove Symbian OS from my Nokia E61 and Nokia Express 5310 and put ubuntu on it.

It was such a bummer when I found out I couldn't...

My phones would rock with Ubuntu! ...I hope a revelation comes soon

I've heard that Ubuntu is starting to be able to run on some smart-phones. Phones that can run things like Windows Mobile.

Right now, I'm trying to give the iPhone a look/feel like ubuntu. I've got everything all set up for the project, all I need now is a team.

I'm also trying to port some programs from Ubuntu to the iPhone, since jailbroken iPhones can run scripts from the terminal, and also a few other things such as python.

Ubuntu has ARM support for certain architectures, but you must realize that phones open up a whole new set of devices that Ubuntu would need to recognize and make better use of. However, this is possible, we just need a light GUI involved to make it happen (e17 is probably the best option).

Also, I agree that if you want an Ubuntu phone, just get a 3G data plan that allows Skype to be used, get an AIGO, plug it in and have a wonderful time playing 3d games on your all-purpose computer phone. XD

Seriously, I want an AIGO MID so bad. Some of them are going for 400 dollars, now.

i would love if the gave out a mobile version so i can install it instead of my windowsmobile os. i had geiven in my phone becuase of software problems (sorry for the bad english but i'm from sweden and just 15 years old :P)
