Um I was banned from #ubuntuforums for some reason due to me saying the word "****" trying to guess what word TheWizord was talking about why he was banned from #grubbn. (He said he was banned for saying a word starting with a 'c' and ending with a 't') It wasn't even directed at anyone. Clearly this is not abuse if it is not directed at anyone.

Profanity: Remember that the forums are used by people of all age groups and of all tolerance levels regarding profanity usage. When in the support areas of the forum, please try to keep your language polite and courteous and refrain from the usage of profanities. In the Cafe, mild profanity/swearing is permitted in the context of _general speech_. Explicit profanity/swearing is not allowed, and under no circumstances will we allow any profanity to be directed toward another person.

I was clearly within the rules, as it says nothing about profanity if it is not directed at anyone.

Was this a personal attack on me? Because previously I had a debate with P Quarrels over global warming, with no profane or derogatory comments whatsoever on my part, P Quarrels infact told me to read a book some time, which is an insult, IMHO. Then P Quarrels called me a troll and ignored me.

Joeb was the one who kick banned me.

Power and staff abuse?

Thank you for your time,

Grant A.

Um, shouldn't I get to see what you are posting about me?

It's a copy of the IRC log for the admins reference.

With that, I will leave it to the Forum Council to decide what to do, unless they ask me to say anything with regards to the matter.

How don't they? They follow the same rules, and they have the same people as ops.

Still, don't you think a ban is overreacting? I mean, I was totally within the rules. I did not say it towards anyone, nor did I say it in a derogatory way. All I was trying to do was figure out what the word TheWizord got banned from #grubbn for.

This is ridiculous! A ban just for saying one cuss word in a non-derogatory way?! All I ask is for this ban to be lifted, I think it is just ridiculous that P_Quarrels insults my intelligence by telling me to read a book, and then calls me a troll, and gets away with it! Then I say one cuss word in a non-inflammatory way and I get banned? Something is seriously wrong with this picture.

And btw, I can't edit posts here so I have this to add:

Joeb left me a message in the ban that said "watch your mouth next time". How am I supposed to watch my mouth *next time* if I am banned? Obviously this is a personal attack on me! P Quarrels got away with calling me a troll and telling me to read a book sometime!

Again, we have no jurisdiction whatsoever over things that happen outside of the forums. If you think something was done inappropriately on IRC, I gave you the link with the information on how to contact those to contact.

As Matthew has said ,we do not govern the IRC Channels. Although the members and some of the staff are common to here they are a separate organisation.
