Is ubuntu brainstorm bull or what?

I've been voting and posted ideas on http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/ during a few months now. What I discovered was that some of the implemented ideas have been mostly down-voted, and that some stuff that will be implemented in jaunty haven't even been proposed in brainstorm. I think the idea about the new notifications is good, but why not putting the idea on brainstorm to see what people think about it?

Another thing that bugs me is that no developer give comments to the most popular ideas. The first one "Provide a simple graphical interface to manage _any_ type of network connection" should be put to "Ideas in development" or a developer should tell why not. The second one should be marked as a bug. etc...

If the developers don't give a sh*t about the most popular ideas it's unnecessary to vote, since the developers are working on the unpopular ideas too.

I don't think the most popular are the best ones, but if the votes aren't important, there's no reason of voting.

Moved to Idea Pool. UF is not related to Brainstorm, although you will probably find here someone who could address your point. Please remember that criticism is always welcome when appropriately worded..

The point of Brainstorm is to get people to think they have an input, but without that being the case. People should actually either file bugs in the relevent place, or actually implement things themselves.

Anyway, developers don't have the time to go through so many things, and also Ubuntu developers rarely have a say on what upstream does.

Yep, ive noticed this too. Also i find a lot of noobs go there and vote and they actually have no clue as to what they are actually voting on but instead follow the positive/negative flow of the votes.

Way too many ideas that are already implemented also get brought up and tons of duplicates.

'Not Ideas' and 'Already Implemented' and 'Duplicates' should just be deleted from site instead of floating around and members with a certain number of post counts on the Forums should only be allowed to vote IMO.

At the moment Brainstorm is just a joke really and the people with good ideas are really the ones that suffer from it.

I am glad that the Mods get to review the Ideas now before the are actually posted or become active. They should though just delete the inappropriate ones.

The same goes for Launchpad though. All the bugs that are fixed, duplicates, invalid and wont fix, should also just be removed from the site. This would make it a lot less clutered and make it easier for the Devs to stay on top of the legitimate bugs.

well removing them as suggest by ^^ is not a good idea as then ppl afterwards might commit the same mistake again as their search resullts wont show the removed posts. intstead they should be moved to a separate section or something.

and i also agree that brainstorm has lost its way.

currently how it works is that devs implement features that they want then check brainstorm if such a feature was requested and then if it was they say it is implemented. and also some of the implemented features are really a joke on ppl eg. the one that says lobby nolkia to release qt as lgpl how can this be claimed to be in implemented features of ubuntu brainstorm is beyond me.

i think devs should srtart looking at top requested features and implement them for a change.

IMHO, the developers have always considered ideas which are more architecture and road map related.

I have seen too many ideas being popular but perhaps not too relevant. Brainstorm needs to be a source for really much-needed ideas only.

Perhaps ideas like "Include all codecs / include medibuntu repos" by default even if highly popular would be against the philosophy, architecture design principles and hence always be in the hang state !!

Nonetheless - I always go out there and click on ideas which match my frequency to make my two cents count :D

and btw - just a silly joke - Bush stayed around for 8 years too - didnt he
