Need some advice

I received a very unpleasant private message from a forum member who was not even directly involved with helping me with my issue... Actually, it was pretty bad, normally I would delete something like this and move on. I've received other odd ball private messages in the past and just deleted them. This was a flat out personal attack for asking newbie questions. My concern is, what if this person is doing this to other members asking for help? I don't want to ruffle feathers but I don't want this person discouraging others from asking questions and learning Ubuntu.
