Replace Gimp with KolourPaint

I think that gimp should be replaced with KolourPaint.

Gimp, which currently comes with ubuntu, is a tool for more advance users.

Most people only want to do simple image editing. A very simple program similar to MSPaint in terms of ease of use and ability is needed.

Kolourpaint is a better image editor for most people. It can do everything MsPaint can do and is as easy to use.

It's also smaller than gimp, which has to be a plus in terms of saving space for the cd .iso.

It won't happen because kolourpaint uses the Qt toolkit and several KDE tools. How did you assess how small Kolourpaint was, by the way? I would think it would be bigger because more extra libs need to be installed than with GIMP.

Kolourpaint and its dependencies are 53.4MB compressed, 142MB uncompressed. In other words, ain't going to happen.

should we then move on to replace OpenOffice.org with something about as powerful as Notepad, like most Microsoft users are used to?

Of course not! I see the inclusion of the GIMP, which is FAR more powerful than MSpaint as a drawing card to Ubuntu - the software it comes bundled with is FAR more useful and powerful than what you get with an install of Microsoft operating system.

Also, I don't have windows, and haven't since 2001, so I would be coming from Mac if anything - why would I want to go from the power of linux to emulating the weakness of a brand I gave up 8 years ago?

I say I'd love it if Inkscape came bundled as well, because whenever I boot up live that's something I always always add - but it would come at the cost of removing something else, so I'm happy just to have what I have.
