This is a PM I sent to an admin tonight concerning his behaviour in a certain thread. It's self explanatory for the most part and for the first time I'm disappointed in the administration of this site.

My first experience in ideological political rooted postings on this message board was a post from you. Something that most logical people know to avoid on forums as making direct points as you did just invokes direct attacks of the opposite opinion. An admin should know better...

I managed to only find technical support related posts (save for the people who are too arrogant and ignorant to make a post without a bashing of Microsoft) on this site until your post concerning America's Army. Any other posts, like the one I was reading, were light hearted talk about gaming and looking forward into the future of Linux gaming.

Your post about the "American murder machine" started the conflict in that post (the first reply in that thread, I might add) and you so arrogantly end it by chastising the people who didn't listen to your advice to drop the subject then lock the thread. One might argue that without your short sighted comment than that thread might never have gone down that route, or at least not to the extreme that it did. I am not impressed and I am, for the first time, disappointed in the leadership of this forum.

Openly calling people idiots for continuing and commenting on a discussion that you yourself started shows an arrogance and disregard for responsibility that I never expected to see from the staff of these forums. At least an apology would have been in order for starting the discussion that you later condemned with such conviction.

Isn't this supposed to be an open minded place and not somewhere to start a fight then use admin powers to lock a thread because people disagree and comment with different opinions?

The thread in question is here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1032465

I personally started part of the original conflict in this thread and later discussed it with the user that I was arguing with as well as fellow forum staff and admins. After watching the thread go out of control again after my first warning to let it go when it was dug back up weeks later was ignored I had little choice but to close it.

Being gone so long I was never aware fully of our stance to avoid polical discussions and for that I'm sorry.

I have replied to this user's post that you see here and had done so before I saw this in the resolution center:

Political discussions are against forum policy, I was in the wrong to start one in the first place and I was made aware of this later.

I've not been around the forums much in the last year and this rule is news to me I think you misunderstand my stance on this subject. The topic was brought back up after I first stopped the argument with another user and I gave you all fair warning. Continuing the discussion this forum was not allowed or advised and it was done anyway. I started the conflict and I put an end to it which was the most appropriate thing I could have done.

Posting this info for the sake of the admins and from this point I will stay out of this thread as is expected of me.

Thank you for doing the right thing and posting this reply. I didn't expect a respectable reply such as this and you proved me wrong.

I consider this respectfully resolved.

How pleasing to read this thread and find the matter resolved before I arrived. :)

Let me know if there is anything further I may do.
