XFCE 4.6 hits testing

I tried Xfce 4.6 Beta 2 when it came out and it was pretty awesome, but I'va migrated to E17 (which is even lighter then Xfce and has more features I believe).

Xfce 4.6 is however something closer to KDE...

I want to try the new xfce 4.6 but I don't want to lose my current xfce4-panel that is patched for true RGBA transparency (so the icons and text are 100% color when the panel is clear).

I hate the normal xfce4-panel and how the icons/buttons/font disappear when you make the panel transparent.

I checked out the files that the patch is written for and the new xfce4.6 has a few changes that will ruin the cairo patch that I use.....

I might mess with it when I have to..... or hopefully someone else will write a new patch for the new xfce4.6 panel to make it truly transparent with viewable text/icons/buttons.....

And 4.4.3 just hit the SliTaz repos...

Anyway, great work by neri and the other Arch packagers.

I don't feel like waiting 1-2 hours for it to download, so I'll give it a try when I'm back on campus tomorrow. (Faster Internet Connection)

I'm looking forward to seeing what has changed.

Personally, I hope it doesn't ruin how good it is now. Which strangely enough is a possibility. Though I'm sure none of the Xfce dev's would agree with me. :lolflag:

Are you on dialup or something? I found it super quick on a 384Kb/s ADSL link. xfce is really not big.

I have a wireless network which I share with 3 other people/computers. The wireless modem is only supposed to handle one connection. If I download some large file/files it puts a strain on the network and could hinder the other users on the network. I should probably updgrade the network but money is kind of tight right now. At home, I get about 100Kb/s to 150 Kb/s. At school I get 1.5 Mb/s to 2 Mb/s, so obviously I prefer to do my "major" downloads at school.

XFCE 4.6 just does not give what I need... Some major changes has to be done!

Apparently the version following 4.6 will finish off some of the changes they have implemented in this version.

We'll see.

As it is now I just use their panel on top of Openbox.

I expect I have mentioned that before. ;-)

I was pretty impressed when I tested the beta.

That's good to hear.

I think the handling of Menu editing won't be finished until 4.7, there was something else too, but I can't remember what it was at the mo'.
