Internet accountablity idea

I have been reading about how to keep christians accountable on the net, if you use windows or mac just download x3 watch or CE, but linux users are left high and dry, a main reason for this is most linux users know enough about linux that they could easily cercumvent software like x3, well I saw a project called openwrt, which is esentailly linux on a rounter, they have a hugh list of supported routers and you can add new software through its package managment system, and they claim that it is easy to port new software to it. So my proposal is to add an accountablity mode to dansgaurdian and port it to openwrt and add some kind of password system for the configuration of dansguardian separate of that for normal router config (security, access list, etc.) I think this would take care of experianced linux users, and as for the non-techy linux users they could just install dansgaurdian directly to their pc (assuming is gains an accountablity mode. what do ya'll think.

This would be great. esp the part about a separate password. When I got Ubuntu CE it only required the administrator to change things. And if you are not the administrator you can't install upgrades or new software.

Why would you need accountability if you have the Holy Spirit?

Whenever you have a bunch of rules and laws to follow, that means the power of the Holy Spirit is not at work.

When your full of the Spirit, you won't want to sin!!!! :)

Accountability is part of being filled with the Holy Spirit because none of us is perfect, as proverbs 27:17 says; "as iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend." the bible also has other examples where is it good to have a friend to help. having Godly friends helps us keep our focus on Jesus so we will be full of the Holy Spirit. Also the bible says we should avoid sin, putting blocks on our computers help us do that.

Blocks won't work, because I know from experience. I tried all that crap. But once you surrender to the will and power of the Holy Spirit, you'll have a filter in your heart that will keep you from wanting to sin on the internet.

If you have blocking software, it just shows your weak in your faith, and maybe you shouldn't be using the internet at all if your that tempted.

Socks5 proxies, VPN's, Net over ICMP, Net over DNS, SSH tunneling, reverse port forwarding - passing a block like that is only one google search away.

You can always take a protip from the ascetics of old and burn your body with red hot rods when the desire creeps on you. ;)

I am not saying we shouldn't be filled with the holy spirit, but not every one is strong in our faith, some of are still babies and we need help as we grow, I agree that there should come a point when we don't need the blocks, but I wasn't suggesting blocks in the first place only software to help keep us accountable to our brothers in Christ. Also not using the internet is not an option for me as I am in the IT industry, thats like telling a truck driver he can't drive. Also I know from experience that taking the internet away won't work either, I still have my imagination, in the end I agree we need the holy spirit, but doesn't mean we don't need help along the way.

Best thing to do if your struggling with temptation is to get on your face flat on the ground and cry out to God for the infilling Power of the Holy Spirit.

We got to much watered down Christianity that doesn't teach the basics of the Power of the Holy Spirit.

Oh, and keep seeking the Power of the Spirit day after day till you get filled.

I guarantee you, that your life will never be the same!!!!!

No one is denying the power of the Holy Spirit. But if that's all God intended us to have, why bother with the Church? God's plan for us is centered around Him, but also includes encouragement and support from eachother. I agree that blocking software hardly ever works, because it's still just you fighting your sin alone. But accountability software is completely different; it brings other mature Christians into your battle with you, just as Christ intended.
