Splashtop is pretty neat... I built a desktop system for my husband last month, and the ASUS motherboard I chose for it has the Splashtop/ExpressGate feature. It boots in less than five seconds (before the BIOS kicks in) and from there you can enter Splashtop, the BIOS or move on the full OS. The funny thing about the way ASUS does Splashtop (the Splashtop guys have said that different motherboard/system builders tend to implement them differently, so I don't know if this is required) is that Expressgate/Splashtop can only be installed and activated through the motherboard drivers and (it would seem) a Windows OS.
It's cool because it boots quickly, and I know that Splashtop is starting to roll out different apps and functions, but it's still pretty basic, even for a netbook. But I imagine it would depend on what S76 decided to do with the netbook hardware... My EeePC 701 boots the default Xandros fairly quickly (not quite Splashtop fast) but the default Xandros is a bit beefier and more functional than the Splashtop that came on the ASUS motherboard I picked up. Neat for a quick sort of "get online" thing, but maybe even a little too sparse for a netbook.
