I know I am not the only one who borderline hates the selection of screensavers we get at default. I know the terminal command (but not on this computer) that nearly triples the selection. But expect for a few most of them are at least 10 years old, I know I checked!!! Can anyone come up with something better..or at least cooler?!

Or just get rid of them altogether. Turning the monitor off or putting it into standby > screensavers.
Personally I like the euphoria screensaver. But the screensaver selection we have is small, and I find it very difficult to install new ones too...
I probably haven't used screen savers in awhile but I remember there being something like 50 screensavers in Dapper.
What crossed my mind when I saw the amount of screen savers that came with the 8.04 version of Ubuntu was "Hey, thats a nice amount of choice.".
I personally think they aren't that bad. Indeed they are old but they are nice. If there are going to be new ones I hope they resemble the comfort, amount, and beauty the ones in 8.04 already has in some way.

To get more screensavers enter these terminal command
sudo apt-get install xscreensaver
sudo apt-get install xscreensaver-gl xscreensaver-gl-extra
