Hi, I think someone should create a facebook status app for Ubuntu that resides in the tray much like GMAIL checker except it will check your facebook status page instead and give you updates. I searched for facebook in synaptic package manager and I didn't find any apps like this. If there is one please give me a link to it.

Hehe it's a fun app, didn't mean to poke fun with the link site. It's called Gwibber and it's developed by one of the guys from Ars Technica. Happy networking :D

specto 0.3 will give you an update when you received a new message, wall post, request, invitation,...

It is not in the repos yet but you can download it from the website
