Hot to install Scibuntu?

Has anyone installed Scibuntu on Ubuntu 8.10?

I tried to download the file, but it took forever so I clicked on the direct download link. I was then sent to a page with a bunch of text.. so I copied it to a text file. The file was changed to a script.. and I made it so it can run as a program.

I clicked, a window with the options "run, display, etc.." popped up. I clicked on run. Nothing happened. Any advice?

Has anyone else tried the recent versions? I've heard stories about it breaking Ubuntu.

I wasn't able to get it to work for me either, on any of the past few releases... But most of the packages that it installs are in the repositories, or newer versions anyways... I just went through and installed what I wanted...
