Well, I'm in the Bronx at the moment but by the end of August I'll have moved to Rensselaer Polytech, which is in Troy, NY, very close to Albany.
I think I'm one of the two users that was looking for other users in/around Albany. I checked out the Capital District Linux Users Group website, and I think I'm going to try to get to their meeting on the 9th in East Greenbush. It will be nice to meet other linux users (and unfortunately rare).
I am over here in long island.......a bit far from albany but still NY.
I'm in Southern Vermont, about an hour east of Albany. I'd be interested in possible future meet ups.
In Saratoga Springs, NY

You should join the CDLUG ( http://cdlug.net/ ), I've really enjoyed it.

The thread is not dead at all.
You can look for events in your area: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NewYorkTeam/Events
note: If there are events in your area please feel free to add them as well.
South of Albany there is also - http://mhvlug.org/
I'm still at RPI, of course! Currently enduring Calc class.
Binghamton here.
I'm not actually in Albany, but I would travel there to meet up with other people if we can get together enough of us to make it worthwhile.
