Karmic Koala ISO/repos?

Is there an ETA on when Karmic ISO/repos will be available (or are they and I just can't find them)? I'd like to do some testing.

Alpha 1 is out May 14.

I think it's a little early yet for even an alpha version seeing as how jaunty just released. There is a schedule online somewhere detailing when the first alpha is expected to be released. Just google it.

I did Google "Karmic Koala Download" (no quotes) and looked in the usual cdimages/release.ubuntu.com places.

We are discussing getting netbooks at work, so with the proposed netbook improvements, I want to stay on top of it this time!

Right now you upgrade from Jaunty, because it is so similar. The karmic repos are up.

In the future it will get it's own ISOs. It doesn't even have the daily images yet.

Upgrade your Jaunty install by editing /etc/apt/sources.list and changing all instances of jaunty to karmic. Then run the update manager. Pre-alpha, of course, so expect some bugs. :)

I understand that probably this might break some things, but if I do this and update regularly, then when Karmic Koala is out I wouldn't need to upgrade? Would this be like having a "rolling" release approach (don't remember the exact term)?

Another question about Jaunty updates (sorry for hijacking). I understand that only security updates are added to the current release repos, but I have a serious flash issue. So, if I update my sources list to use Karmic repositories, I would get a better chance of having the flash problem solved?

While this would bring you up-to-date packages, this WILL BREAK your system before Karmic is released at least once. If you want rolling release I recommend Foresight Linux.

I'm running Karmic right now, it is just barely a new version. If you are having flash problems, you'll have to look elsewhere for a solution. If you are running a 64-bit version, use the alpha version of flash available here.

i have a nice hard drive with Karmic Koala's name on it :lol:

Unfortunately, I'm running 32-bit. I guess someone will find a workaround soon. Nevertheless, at least I have something to fix and kill time. Since I switched from Windows my computer experience has been so damn boring, there is nothing to fix every week, no need for registry cleanups and daily defrags...:)

I am not 100% sure (bad memory) but I don't remember Flash upgrading to a new version when I upgraded from Jaunty to Karmic. Either way, upgrading your entire OS to an unstable pre-alpha testing version just to fix a minor problem....?
