ubuntu's new look is clearly a long way away.

so here's a challenge :D

use every source on the internet you can to try and give ubuntu a new look yourself anyway you want. and come back here and post a screenshot.

i think you should probably stick to an ubuntu-like colourscheme [e.g. brown, red, orange] i think if we all give it a try we can have some really nice looking desktops.

i've attached my attempt [i mostly just gave the dust them new controls and colours]

you guys will clearly do it better than me lol.

this thread is to try and give your desktop a new ubuntu look...

I like this idea. I think mine is pretty nice. But I reckon others have done better.

It isn't that nice, i prefer the default look although I change hat immediately.

Best attempt at a new look was the New Wave theme imo.

the screenshot thread is just to show how you've modded your desktop... nothing to do with seeing if they can come up with a new look for ubuntu. its differenntt.

I agree. The screenshot thread is mainly for caps of the plain ol desktop and panel set-up, and maybe if we're lucky a terminal window or two filled with l33t haxxor commands. Seeing the colour-schemes and stuff for window managers and window decorators is not the point of that particular thread.

I do not get this thread.

But what I do know is that you really should delete Pendulum from your computer. It is a great game made for Linux and we would like to have some positive reinforcement to the developers of this game to keep doing what they are doing.

Do you even read the screenshoot thread?

Many of the examples there frankly pushes the limits of what a computer screen (Computer screen, - not just a "Desktop" - that's too restrictive in describing some of the examples..) could look like.

That said, I do see the "point" is this thread; it's a "show what you think default ubuntu should like" thread, but being the case, it could been done in the countless thread in the art or development forum about it...

ohhh now I remember! It was that terribly boring one :D I guess there is nothing bad about downloading it then no matter if you own the cd or not.

(btw John's doll = the doll is owned by John, but not John is doll... this is a very confusing error to make for others)

Indeed, this thread is no different from the big desktop picture thread, and that thread exists to cut down on noise! Although I don't mind the noise, personally, with the crazy rise in ridiculous "eeek I'm being discriminated against! How dare businesses cater to the majority!" types of threads...

As for new look... Find a nice picture of Mars. There are some great ones. Install community-themes from Jaunty's repository. Apply Impression. I still can't get over how great it looks.
