Hi and thanks for reading,

I recently upgraded to Jaunty...and was having Intel chip issues... In the process of solving those issues, I ended up with Karmic on my box...

And I currently cannot access Karmic at all...access to user name comes up but keyboard and mouse are dead. Tried recovery mode to no success. Is it possible to go back to Jaunty with out losing any data on my drive? If so how might I go about doing that? Please keep in mind that I am not truly gifted in the aspect of computers. Also please excuse my folly and general incompetence.

Thank you in advance.

I am now wondering if I can drop to root shell via recovery mode and do a reinstall of Jaunty? Any ideas on how and if I can do that?

If you want to backup, I suggest you get a CD of Jaunty and use the live CD mode to copy your files. From there you can reinstall without losing data.

ispy thank you... but not what I had in mind. As I'm on a laptop a second drive is not an option.
