I got second. Me too, please?
And there I thought I was the only one left out in the cold! ;)
Anyone know when invitations will start to be dispatched?

Not sure. Isn't it all through launchpad?

That's what I thought as well , But still waiting.
I'll stand in line with ya...
Hmmm... after a little research, it seems that UDS is slowing things down a bit and that as soon as they get more servers going invitations will come along.
Just wanted to confirm that we're actively working to get everyone who requested an invitation invited to Ubuntu One (and that participation at UDS Karmic is slowing us down a bit ATM).
Thanks for you interest, we'll try to get those out A.S.A.P. :)
I would take one of those too.
i can has too, plz?
Excited to hear that the requests will be dealt with swiftly! Loved the idea of UbuntuOne since i first read about it and requested an invite straight away. Yep. Cos i'm sad!
Please allow me to go a little AOL for a moment and say ME TOO. :) Thanks.
What is the difference between DropBox and Ubuntu One?

Not much right now...but I think Canonical has more cloud based plans that will build on Ubuntu One.
Cloud based meaning faster transfers to users?
i'd like one.

That's a pretty good description.
Right now Ubuntu One is basically a file storage, syncing and sharing service that looks very similar to box.net or dropbox, but we're planning quite a bit more interesting stuff in the relatively near future (including screen sharing, providing syncing APIs to all the apps on the Ubuntu Desktop that can take advantage of your Ubuntu One account, syncing preferences and settings files in an interesting way, etc)
As far as invites, the best thing to do right now is jump on the queue at https://ubuntuone.com, we're trying to send out invites as quickly as makes sense, while scaling our service so that all of our existing users will still be working without trouble.
Thanks for your patience!
