As discussed on Sunday 24 May's meeting we now have new for of membership. The idea was a combination of how the Catalan LoCo managers their members and how the official Ubuntu membership is managed. There are two forms of membership now available. Firstly is launchpad membership which is open to anyone who wishes to join at https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-cym which grants privileges such as voting and participation in how the team is run. There will also be an official approval form of membership where the applicant needs to show some contribution to OSS and/or Ubuntu communities. This can be anything ranging from forums assistance, mailing list contributions or even assistance in IRC. What will you gain from this other form of membership? Well it is still in draft form however you will be granted an @ubuntu-cym.org email address and the option of having your blog aggregated to the LoCo's planet http://98.142.208.108/planet/ . To apply for the approval form of membership, please contact the team's current point of contact or ask in our IRC channel for more information https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WelshTeam/IRC .

If you've had your blog aggregated does that mean you're already a member?

Also, I believe this thread should be a sticky.

The chances are that if you are on the planet you are indeed a member or would be accepted if you wished to apply. This is rare but there are a few people in the team who'd get accepted with no need even explain what they do for membership.

In fact I'd like it if people were to apply in this thread in something like my little example below:

Hello my name is Christopher Swift but some of you may know me as ianto in IRC. The criteria for membership that I fill are:

Regarding blog aggregation, I'd be grateful if chrisswift.eu could be aggregated to the planet.

  • I help on IRC with new and older users
  • I really advocate Ubuntu & Linux in a non-aggressive fashion in my local community
  • I am an active participant in these forums.
  • I am a major contributor to the Welsh wiki on wiki.ubuntu.com
  • Etc.

With many thanks, Chris

Oh and I've also stuck this topic!
