There are no obstacles to run Ubuntu One on older releases - at least File sync part of it. I guess that some new features (tight integration with applications?) wouldn't work but file syncing shouldn't be a problem.

It probably more that the developers want to focus on the current and future releases. Limited time, Limited resources, etc...

There is a range of alternatives out there, it doesn't have to be Ubuntu One.

Adrive looks to be one of the cheaper options just now.

I'm using it on my 8.04 LTS. I'm running 9.04 as a virtual machine, and Ubuntu One is working just fine.

Thank you all i'm now running 9.04 with ubuntu one on it and all is working great thank you all.
