Just out of curiosity, how many free accounts does ubuntu one support?

I requested for invitation approximately 2 weeks ago, but I dont have an account yet.

Are free accounts over. How much time will it approximately take before they increase the number of free accounts(and I get an account :))

i heard that they will scale the service after the Ubuntu Developer Summit and the start the open beta. So my guess, in 2 weeks time.

They are still building the infrastructure to handle the number of people wanting accounts. People I have talked to on the UO team told me they hope to honor invite requests soon.

Can't wait. I'm the Linux special interest group leader for our computer club (DACS.org) and look forward to demonstrating this at one of our meetings.

Hurry up please!

I would like to get my account immediately and pay the US$10 but I cannot find the option?

If you're desperate to spend money there are existing solutions available many of which represent better VFM than Ubuntu One.

but few as well integrated (except dropbox i suppose)

Adrive has an integrated Linux desktop utility.

I don't know how good theLinux desktop utility is, but you can trial it for 14 days free of charge.

Just wanted to note that we're adding users as rapidly as we can.

The reason we started Ubuntu One with a invitation schema is so that we could keep the service running :) As you might expect, we've got loads of people interested in trying out the service, but we want to make sure that nothing bursts into flames while we add more people.

Thanks for being patient! We'll try to get everyone included just as quickly as possible.

Yes Dropbox is currently much more portable but once the UO client is expanded to other platforms and the server side code is released it could be a real winner.
