I haven't actually been approving anyone on to the T&T team other than staff so far. What I think we need is a definite set of criteria or a process for new members that wish to join.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Select members who have posted few (at least 2-3) tutorials, since they should already know the criteria
  • Choose from members who have already applied on the group membership page
  • Maybe a sticky on T&T for information about the team and how to apply, since this forum is private
  • Some sort of process for voting (+1/-1) in new members:
  • Threads for each staffer to vote on?
  • IRC meeting? (CC-style)
  • Mailing list? (MOTU-style)
  • Welcome thread for new members in here so other staff know what is going on
  • Some sort of quick training for new members on tutorials. This depends on whether the T&T team can approve tutorials directly; not at the moment. Otherwise they can just read comments on threads here.

Throw some thoughts out here. I'm finally free this week to get stuff done. :D

-1 on IRC. It would be difficult (if not impossible) for me to make the meetings :(

I like the whole "have posted tutorials" part. I think a sticky will be needed as things progress and there's a more formal procedure in place for reviewing and approving tutorials.

Suggestion: Take suggestions from current staff members for potential candidates.

Shoot me if you disagree, but I think we might want to postpone adding members for a while until we come up with a concrete way for them to be able to review stuff.

Sidenote, going through the mod queue now. :)
