alright. I am starting to lose all confidence in this ubuntu community. I have posted all over the internet looking for help on my KDE problem and not one post, not ONE, has even gotten a response. I am going to attempt here only because I don't believe an entire day trying to figure out something you know nothing about is too long.
now, if anybody wants to help, I have a problem. I installed Kubuntu on my iMac G3. When I first installed it it worked fine. I was happy with it. I then began to plug in a LAN cable and I guess I accidentally hit the power cable shutting the machine off. So, I started it back up but when it got to the neat graphic loading screen with the topic column and the ok, or failed column it stopped at Starting periodic command scheduler. Not before breifly showing me at the top of the screen a message saying "Invalid ROM signature 8181 should be 0xaa55". It went on without any problems so I ignored it.
After the start up just sort of ... stopped ... I went to the command line and typed kdeinit and got the $DISPLAY is not set answer. I don't know what that is supposed to mean or how to fix it. Thats why I need your help.
Also whenever I try and do a sudo command like sudo nano or sudo cp it says "sudo: unable to lookup iBuntu [my computers name] via gethostbyname()"
Quite frankly I'm stuck and losing faith in the ubuntu community. Some help would be suprisingly appreciated.
