Last night, I had my first lucid dream. I started out small, summoning objects, flying and walking through walls and am wondering what to try next.

So, how many of you have had a lucid dream and what do you do in them?

#2

Every time I realize that I'm in a dream, I get excited and wake up. So, none for me. :(

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream if this is the kind of dream you are talking about then yes. i had a few in my time. trick is to avoid falling asleep and staying just in the right before you fall into sleep sate of mind for as long as you can. what ever you focus upon during that can be the content of the dream . it does not have to be that way but the key is that you are awake and sleeping at the same time and that makes it possible for you to do what ever you want. its your dream .

there is a saying. if you can dream it you can do it.

Most of the dreams I remember are lucid dreams. When they are not lucid, apparently I have difficulty remembering them.

I just enjoy the control I have over the events that transpire during the dream. I have had some dreams that didn't go the way I would want them to. I reset the dream to a point in time and changed my actions or the other person/object actions to abtain an outcome I was happy with.

I'm kind of skeptical of lucid dreaming, since it shouldn't be denied that the free will could be an illusion.

It was one time, I think, that I was doing lucid dreaming, or at least something close. When I came to my senses, I was in my workplace. And I got telekinesis. I was thinking of wrecking the whole building, but decided against it since I still wasn't sure if it was really a dream.

On a similar note, I found a way to increase the chances of having a dream and remembering it. After 4-5 hours of sleep, wake up and stay half-awake for several minutes (go to toilet, drink a cup of water)(in my case it's my parents pestering me on the phone to wake up for classes). Then I go to sleep for more ~4 hours. The second time I go to sleep the dreams come easy and I remember them.

I have had lucid dreams for the past decade or so and usually do whatever I feel like doing in said-dreams. On most nights I warp reality (rearranging matter and the like) before finding a quiet, breezy spot in a forest within my mind. After that, I lay in the cool grass and listen to the sounds of a nearby stream. Concurrently, I take a moment to melt my worries, my deadlines and commitments and remember what's truly important.

i like to talk to people i havent seen in a really long time

#11

I have them when I have been working too hard e.g. all nighters. I sort of wake up but parts of the dream like people come back to the room with me and it is like a hallucination until I wake completely.

#12

I've had a couple of lucid dreams, each time I always start flying or something similar. If I think too hard about it I just wake up.

#13

I have been having them since I was very young, when I was actually much better at it, as I used to go from consciousness to lucid every night when I went to bed. I lost that ability in my early teens, I think it was probably due to hormonal changes.

I really enjoy lucid dreams, though I prefer educational dreams that come from my higher consciousness best of all. :)

Here is an absolute beginner’s guide to having a lucid dream.

I want to so bad...I wish I could.

yesterday, i remembered having a dream about my cat rachel, when she was young (she lived to be almost 22). in the dream, she got bitten by a snake (which i have a phobia about). i backed the dream up and replayed it, this time, catching the snake before it could bite her. then, i woke up pretty rattled.

That's for the info I will be giving it a try ;)

#19

Did anyone try to astral project while lucid dreaming? Or I am the only one that did it?

#20

Most all of my dreams are lucid. The ones that aren't are usually nightmares.

#21

I've tried a few things when I've been fortunate enough to have a lucid dream, but the thing I generally like to do is fly. For me dreaming in god mode is fun, but the flying part is just fantastic.

The best dreams to make lucid are nightmares. That way you can make it all pleasant.

#23

A good tip for lucid nightmares is to just face the object you are afraid and running from. It will then usually turn out nice or something cool.

#24

Lucid dreaming is not real!

  • Duh *

:D

Well, I had one - managed to switch off the sun and woke up in the darkness.

Ahahaha! Don't you hate it when you wake up during those :D

I've never had a lucid dream, always thought it would be really cool. Apparently the way to tell if you are having one or if it is real is to try and turn a light switch on and off, as they don't work properly in dreams.

When ever I have those "Megan Fox" dreams, something weird always happens, and I can't close the deal.

I always find it funny that you (usually) can't die in a dream... Its like your subconscious wont except death as a fact :D, or we just cant imagine it, as we have never done it before ;)

I don't think you can die in a dream. You would wake up before you died. An exception would be the third person dream where you die, but your watching it in the 3rd person, so it's not really you I guess.

I heard that just before you fall asleep a good sign that you're going to have a lucid dream is feeling like you're falling through your bed. This happened to me once, but it freaked me out so much I jolted up in bed.

Im trying but i cant figure it out ...

But its awesome !

I used to have nightmares every night, then learned to lucid dream so I could control them. Now I'm almost always lucid. I try to let my subconscious do most of the work, but if the dream is unpleasant I'll usually fly around. I've been trying to meet a friend in a dream for about a week, but I always forget what to do in the gap between sleep and dream. I've heard about a program called Gnaural (http://gnaural.sourceforge.net/) that is supposed to help you become lucid.

Yeah, I felt that before, like it would feel like I'm falling or something, and I would get scared and jump, it's weird.

I've had lucid dreams regularly since I was about twelve. They're quite good, but once you've realised that you are, in fact, in a dream, it is so very easy to forget. My girlfriend wanted to experience lucid dreaming, so we bought some calea zacatechichi [wikipedia.org], which is supposed to induce lucid dreaming. I haven't really noticed much from taking the stuff, but she has had a few. Maybe this can help some members. Apparently it's illegal in like one state in America, but not illegal at all anywhere else on the planet, so go right ahead and buy some on ebay.

You can't die in a dream because it's impossible to conceptualise your own non-existence.

That being said, lucid dreams are the best. If you dream lucidly frequently try crashing your dream without waking up physically. Talk about freaky. I've only managed to do it twice over a period of many years and even then only for a matter of a few moments.

#36

Generally, IF I dream, its either incredibly uninteresting or I see a few days into the future, which would be alot cooler if I had a more exciting life lol. I dont think Ive ever had a lucid dream.

Therion said: You can't die in a dream because it's impossible to conceptualise your own non-existence.

Which is why it is in fact possible to die in your dream if you believe that death is not final and that their is an "after-life" of some kind.

#38

I'm gonna try Hemi Sync now

#39

I had a lucid dream once and although I can't remember what happened then, I remember trying to stay in the dream. I had to literally fight my way into the dream.

After I woke up, I had a migraine for a whole day.

It's the water. I started with night terrors, then sleep paralysis, then it mellowed to just waking up a couple times a night without actually waking up.

One of the first things they try with kids that have night terrors (ie: you are sleep walking in a frantic and uncontrollable manner) is to moderate water consumption within a set time of bedtime because the gently increasing need to urinate wakes people up within their REM environment.

i dreamed i was eating donuts last night that was a good one

for ethnobotanicals, erowid.org is the place to go.

not much evidence that it actually works. No identified chemicals, either. may or may not work... I suspect the placebo effect. seems like most of these people know how to lucid dream anyway, so it makes sense.

I've had two true lucid dreams, both when I was around 10 or so. One, I thought I was asleep in a hallway... then I realized that I wasn't awake. So... I decided to try to wake up (not realizing the potential). Well, I woke up, then started to watch TV,a nd realized some things didn't make sense... so I didn't actually wake up, I just dreamed that I woke up. I did that about 50 times, getting continually more annoyed until my alarm clock woke me up lol

The second, I was just walking around, and somehow I realized I was dreaming. I walked around a bit more, bored. then I tried to wake up... got annoyed, and just sat there til I woke up (which took a LONG time!) :p

More recently, last Fall I experienced sleep paralysis. Never having heard of it before, I was absolutely terrified! I was trying to yell for help, but I could barely make weak grunt. This was especially disturbing because my roommate was just a couple feet away, oblivious... never been so scared in my life, I was convinced I was going to die :o

Now that I know what happened, I'm very glad I had the experience, and also glad I didn't know what it was before hand. the experience wuldn't have been as strong if I knew what was happening.
