I know there is a lot of churches out there that now have video cameras that pipe through a computer with some production/streaming/editing software that can apply effects on the fly and then stream it back out to a projector or something similar while recording it at the same time. I do not know a whole lot about this as I do not even own a web cam. But, after doing a little looking around I think LiVES might be the best solution for something like this in linux for churches. What are your thoughts on this?

i will dig into it and get back to you shortly!!

seems to be legit...

Yeah, the bad thing is, is that I do not have a tv card for video capture nor do I have a camera so I can't really test and play around with things. Granted this will change sometime in the future as I plan on making some video's my self. But it could be a little time before I can do something like that.

Although, now that I think about it. This would probably be an economical solution to the smaller churches or ones with less funds then others. The church I attend has a lot of members and they have some pro. equipment, I did kinda take a peek at what they had going on though I didn't get a very close look. But it looked like that had probably something around $20,000 in all that equipment if not more. There is A LOT of churches out there that can't put up that kind of money for that type of equipment. They might be able to get a video camera or two at wal-mart or some other place like that. So UbuntuCE would most certainly be the economical choice for those churches that do not have a lot of funding.

agreed my church is one of those small churches so...UBUNTUCE IS THE CHOICE FOR ME!!!

Yeah man. Windows 7 is about to come out and the upgrade alone for that is like $140, and the lowest end full retail version is like $200. And that would be just for one license for one comp. That's just crazy and can get very expensive for Churches that are on a tight budget. UbuntuCE is a great option for any church but is a real blessing for those that are not very big and don't have a whole lot of money.
