I've noticed bmp-alarm is in dapper anychance of backporting it to breezy having xmms just for a simple alarm seems pointless.

I'm running Breezy but I just downloaded the Dapper version from the Ubuntu Packages site:
http://packages.ubuntulinux.org/dapper/utils/bmp-alarm
And "dpkg -i"ed it and it seems to work, I've set it up, but haven't tested it yet.
