Moblin looks cool, but something that bothers me is how much of the limited screen space the taskbar at the top takes up.

The taskbar auto-hides itself :D

Yes, it does. The only annoying drawback is the background can't be changed. You can only change the themes in MyZone, not what's on the computer background.
