I am thinking about buying my sister a Dell Mini 10 or 10v netbook and would like to play around with UNR but leave here the standard Windows OS she is used to. I am used to using dual boot on my MacBook. Can you set up UNR to dual boot on the Dell Mini?

You can still dual boot. All you have to do install and partition the drive like what you did on your Macbook. Just make sure that GRUB doesn't make her have a cow and you'll be fine.
