I was changing my karmic to lucid on all my resources and changed that "/usr/share/python-apt/templates/Ubuntu.info" file to reflect lucid as well.

I thought what the heck and did a 'sudo aptitude dist-upgrade', and got 87 MB of updated data along with that new kernel. It booted back up ok, but I know the tool-chain is not uploaded yet. I checked and all the files have been updated. as of 10 minutes ago.

While I was still under karmic I was keeping updated.

At any rate its holding steady. That's what backups are for. in case this blows up in my face.

Wait.. why do you think you screwed up?

#3

Sounds like everything is fine?

#4

I've never don't an upgrade before. Only new installs. I've always just move my home files over to a new installation.

I knew I will have to upgrade on this one unless I waited for the alpha. When I first rebooted the xsplash had changed from the white circle of friends to a psychedelic colored one. I didn't see any xsplash updates recorded.

I wasn't expecting any updated files at this early stage. When I first upgraded I was just expecting what some others reported. That nothing there.

That is where I am--the toolchain is "mostly" in--so you are good-to-go....This weekend I'm setting up the backup install--drive space is ready & a separate /home is there--AH--feels good to be back in the pre-alpha stage again..........Welcome Home ):P

:lolflag:Looking good!):P

The xsplash acid trip is normal.

#8

Interesting--mine "pulsates"...goes from white to a light-blue & back again--no other colours.....I feel cheated :( (image of hacker temper-tantrum):lolflag:

I wanted to say - You are good - I haven't managed to do it yet, I screwed up my up to date and perfectly running Karmic three days before official release!

Boy was I disgusted!

I was just on Gnome-Look & saw a grub2 splash uploaded--Not bad looking--He did it in the wrong size 1024x768--I set it in mine & resized it to 640x480--here is the original--I had to change it from .tga to .png due to forum uploading......I have my menu in red(unselected) & black(selected)--looks fairly good.....at least until GFXmenu comes in grub2 in a month or so.....

I like that .. maybe a little too 'bright' orange, but very nice otherwise.

Thanks. I needed a new face lift to work with Lucid. A tad bit bright orange for morning coffee though.

I wanted a bit of variation--I had made one from the Jaunty GDM screen, but it made the boot experience a bit dark--here is that one--sized correctly.....

If I have time this weekend I'll make one for Lucid.....

Ok--I whipped up a simple one in Gray & Black---I used red(normal) & magenta(selected)--Not as bad a eye-opener.....
