I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 and noticed the "contracted Braille" checkbox in Orca's preferences. When I check the box, two things happen. All Braille disappears and I can no longer use the insert-space keystroke to get to the Orca window. Can I reinstall liblouis, or is there anything else I can do to try out the contracted Braille?

Thanks, Teresa

Thanks, Teresa I suggest re-installing... It always works for my Orca errors...

Please do not suggest reinstalling unless other options have not worked. What works on your hardware, may not work on her hardware.

What should I reinstall? Is this likely to be a bug, or just an individual quirk? When I try to obtain liblouis through the apt-get command, I get a "couldn't find package message". Any ideas?

Thanks, Teresa

The poster is talking about reinstalling Ubuntu, but that is not a good idea at this point. It is better to see if the problem can be fixed. Hopefully someone will have a solution for you soon.

If software does not work as it should, then I would consider it a bug. There may be a solution in launchpad - the bug reporting area of Ubuntu.

As for not finding it, have you checked universe in the repositories?
