Stlsaint(launchpad, email) is forming a regional group based in Killeen. Based on interest this team may expand to be a "Central Texas" team. Stlsaint is in the #ubuntu-us-tx irc channel on freenode almost all the time, so that is a terrific place to get in touch with him (don't be afraid to idle in there).

Only locals vote plz
what does that mean only people from Killeen get to vote or people from what areas get to vote.
I live in Hill County some call it Central and some call it north central but that puts me no where near Killeen and to say that there cant be a Killeen Group and a central texas group
And should this topic also be dicussed on the meeting on the 6th
as founder of killeen loco i asked that this poll be taken so i could do just that...offer it outside killeen, it has NEVER been said that there cant be two regional teams but its unnecessary thus i offer to expand killeen to central texas to for 1 regional team to cover more area to users who dont have a loco near them. and yes this well be discussed at dec 6th meeting
I'm sort of local, part of the time. I work > half the time in Fairfield, while I live near Houston. I actually spend more time in Fairfield than at home. I suppose I could choose one or the other, but it's more fun to spread it around. If you limit it to Killeen I'm out of luck most of the time.

thank you for your input.
Yes but would meetings only be held in Killeen? If so then that would be a Killen Team
If Meetings moved
rotated between Waco Hillsboro Temple and other towns
then I would call that a Central Texas Group
So I believe that it should be asked:
Are the meetings only going to be in one location? or Are you wanting to hold meetings in the rest of central texas also?
it depends on a few factors: 1) where are majority of members located 2) it should be a location that is 'most' central to the members in all areas... if 85% of the team is closest to killeen for example...than yes most meetings would be held in killeen but if its even out than we will choose a location central to all.
So in simple terms you are looking to keep it in Killeen.
I believe a Central Texas Team should have meetings in several towns
In My eyes Killeen is on the southern portion of Central Texas. here is a map of what I would consider for covered area of a Central Texas
With the meetings in that city I do not believe that it be representative of the area that it supposedly covers
I agree , "Central Texas" Covers the entire area which within a decade or so will be Central Texas Metro or "Tri-County" from what they were saying when I was in school.
I thought it would be nice to have it Central Texas, not just Killeen. Killeen is small (when compared to Austin or Dallas), so is Temple, Waco and certainly the smaller neighbors of those cities. With all of the smaller cities put together we will have as many users as need be. I would suggest having the meetings rotate around Killeen, Temple and Waco until there are more people outside of those area's.
I'm sure we can even have some webcam or Ventrilo/Teamspeak meetings.
Sorry I couldn't make it Sunday, I did read over some of the notes.
If word hasnt spread already the decision was made to change to Central texas so CenTexTeam has been formed!
