So if a person is unable to attend an Internet Relay Chat that is designated as a meeting for having to work or whatever the reason does that mean they should not be able to vote on an item??

Or should votes and voting take place in an open area like the mailing list or here in the forum?

Or does it really matter?

Is there any harm in having a vote take place in several places to get the greatest response?

Whats your take on the subject?

Should we only allow people who attend chat on freenode to vote

I'll say what I've been saying form the start. Voting should not be done at meetings. They can be started then, but they should stand for a given period. Mailing list is a clean simple way to handle this for now.

I vote for forum voting , it is a resource that exists, therefore we should use it. Why do we need to reinvent the wheel?

Reasoning: Most topics can be kept on topic by forum moderators. As long as IRC is logged we can Parse the specific topics out of Chat Log, and if others have input on the subject then why not let it be here, where voting and commenting can be done?

for voting i say use mailing list. All voting can be archived as in irc and makes sure that all partys involve at least get a chance to vote.

honestly in my opinion if you dont attend meetings than why are you voting on topics. If you dont attend meetings via irc or whatever than you are making uniformed votes on subjects that one may not know all information about. So if we have votes on irc but not meetings on it than people are voting (here in forums) without know all factors on the subject. but since i know this is not going to change i vote to have meetings via irc and votes via mailing list.
