I downloaded openoffice2 writer guide (full book). which was based on open office 2,but the download links are for guides based on open office 3. I know u might not have as much free time as I have, so I will recommend the chapters I think are very important/(must read):

(Chapter 12 :Creating Tables of Contents, Indexes and Bibliographies) once u read the above chapter you can read this one too, so you will be able to create table of content automatically(you will get to add/remove and edit ur document and the tables of contents will be updated with the page no#s and everything automatically too).
