Austin Area Meetup

I'd really like to get a little more organized in the Austin Area with a LoCo Support group.

That would meet in real life rather than on IRC or other virtual means.

As a new comer to the Ubuntu/Linux world, I may not be able to offer direct expertise but am willing to share what I can and help learn something new.

I would like to meet regularly like once a month or so. I wouldn't expect any formal meeting topics or structure. My idea is someplace to meet and just talk about anything Ubuntu or anything else for that matter, work through any issues anyone might be having, and most important to just have fun.

As far as a place goes, I was thinking a coffee shop or even a library (any place with a free WiFi). Anyone would be welcomed and encouraged.

I'm still figuring a first meet date, So I'll post again with that.

I know there has been thoughts and talk of this before, but I'm looking to be a bit more proactive about it.

WHAT: Austin Ubuntu LoCo Meet. DATE: Thursday May 20, 2010 TIME: 7PM to 9pm?? PLACE: Austin Public Library - Manchaca Road Branch[SIZE=2][FONT=arial, helvetica, swiss] -[/FONT][/SIZE] [FONT=arial, helvetica, swiss][SIZE=2]5500 Manchaca Rd. Austin, TX 78745

I'll be there by 7pm and plan to stay till the library closes at 9pm. All are welcome to come and go as you like.

I'll also have the latest iso available 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx (both 32 and 64 bit) if anyone wants to copy it to a usb drive if you bring it or even a blank cd.

It would be nice to get a heads up on how many I can expect to show in case I need to get a meeting room reserved or something.

Next meet-up I'm thinking June 17 or 18th. Not sure of a Location yet.

Did the meeting on the 9th happen? I missed the discussion a few weeks ago, but I'm up for a meeting sometime. I'll keep my eyes on this forum.

It happened actually. This forum is useful, but irc and the email-mailing list are much better for keeping up to date.

We haven't really tried at recruitment in a while. But I am in Austin, and I'm an Ubuntu geek ;)
