The only thing that's happened is I lost Evolution for a couple of days. I've had a couple questions and ranch hand helped me out. Other than that it's been smooth sailing.

Is this the quite before the storm :?:

It's the quiet after UDS. Lots of people are only just recovering from the UDS rush and Ubuflu, getting their specs together, and picking up the work.

since this is an LTS + 1 it should be satisfyingly interesting once things get rolling .

I always wait until the first alpha. That way I can keep updated through zsync until the end. Also nothing really exciting happens until after alpha starts.
