Synaptic is pissing me off. It needs to stop stealing window focus so much.

It does this at least 5 times during an upgrade operation.

I agree, update manager does this too. Its annoying when I am trying to browse the web during an update and it steals focus 20000 times. A workaround is just to use the terminal to update :)

just an hour ago upgraded system in synaptic without any problems

I have been thinking of filing this as a paper-cut for some revision... So at least I'm not alone ;) What would you say would be 'acceptable' behavior in these instances?

I always run synaptic on a different workspace, the only time it bothers me is when the installation windows opens, and it opens on the desktop I'm using, it just takes a right-click and select Move to Workplace Right. I have the same problem with vbox.

What is it doing when it steals the focus? I have not seen this on any of my systems.

The way I have apt-listchanges set up, apt-listchanges will bring Synaptic to the foreground after packages download if there are changelogs I haven't seen yet, but outside of that, while it is downloading it stays in the background and while packages are being installing it stays in the background.
