The SPE 0.8.2.a deb package is available for download at http://pythonide.stani.be So, please use that one instead of the one in the universe repository.
Already for quite some time a special version of this package (thanks to Marco Ferreira) is waiting for approval in the repositories. I hope it gets in before dapper because 0.8.1.d is a buggy release which is fixed with 0.8.2.a So it is nobody's interest to keep 0.8.1.d there. You can follow the progress here, but unfortunately nothing seem to happen: http://revu.tauware.de/details.py?upid=2159
