LXDE not always displaying jpeg thumbnails.

I've just installed Mint 9 LXDE on a friend's aging laptop, and I'm very impressed. So is he - it blows his XP partition out of the water when it comes to switch on -> web time.

The only gripe I have at the moment is that when viewing folders full of jpegs, only a random few are displayed as thumbnails. As this machine will be used mainly for photo storage and editing, it's a bit of a deal breaker. All jpegs are from the same camera, untouched.

I have been reading up on the flie manager (Pcman?) and it does appear to cause the odd glitch, but does anybody have any idea where I might start looking for a fix for this issue? Or would XFCE be a viable alternative?

I have posted on the Mint forums, but traffic over there appears to be fairly slow. I don't mind going for a different desktop, I just thought LXDE would be the best option for speed.

It is some strange default setting. Only files smaller than 1mb will have a thumbnail. It can be increased, but for some reason it seems to have an absolute limit at around 30mb.

If a post is older than a year or so and hasn't had a new reply in that time, instead of replying to it, create a new thread. In the software world, a lot can change in a very short time, and doing things this way makes it more likely that you will find the best information.
