Now that Rob Ford is Mayor of Toronto is he gonna stop the "Gravy Train" to Microsoft and utilize the more reliable and free open source software including Ubuntu the most user friendly Linux.

At my work, we tried linux, for the IT staff. We couldn't even get it working stable. Serverside we rely on it, but desktop wise, its just too iffy.

Wow that is quite a list. I am surprised that with the list like this, there are not that many company/cities/business/organisation follow suits.

Sounds like IT was afraid to get out of its comfort zone.

I agree. Ubuntu should run perfectly stable on any desktop. Ubuntu and many other Linux distros should load drivers for most major hardware too.

They might have got scared when the send/receive or save button didn't look like Microsoft's

They might have got scared when the send/receive or save button didn't look like Microsoft's Most likely. Or worse, an IT "pro" who pimps MS stuff wherever possible. We have one of those at our company and it's ridiculous. This person has the owner of the company believing that we "need" SharePoint 2010, and so far it is collecting dust on a shelf, not even installed yet. That was many thousands of dollars well spent now, wasn't it?
