OK--I did a fresh install & set my desktop to use Unity---everything looks OK & works well---except for when I tried to start up UT2004 I ended up with a black screen... Question is: Has anyone else seen this? I realise this is a corner-case with OpenGL & Unity, but I play Unreal regularly & would hate to do a logout/login to Gnome2 just to play.....

I'll wait a bit for responders before a bug report.

OK--I did do a bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/669109

Anyone else wanting to try running a OpenGL game in Unity?

I'm not a gamer so I don't have UT2004 , any openGL games in the repos ? I'll try to replicate and confirm .

Thanks my friend!!! I'm not sure if its just with UT2004 (I have pulled it forward for years now) or all OpenGL games...Sauterbraten is huge, Alien Arena is smaller & there there are a couple of small ones--Trackballs, Crack-attack & ExtremeTuxRacer...

I'm sure there are others, but these I know for sure.......I'm going to try some OpenGL/AL tests myself......

Ok--I just ran the OpenGL/AL test suite without problems, played a quick round of Crack-Attack, opened Sauterbraten & Jag2...no problems with any of those games...I'm hoping its not just a problem between Unity & UT2004.....

found foobillard uner games which claims to be openGL , runs ok in unity , no black screen or artifacts , tried GS , same result . are you Nvidia or ATI ?

SLI-nvidia 9800GT cards--I've had some problems in GS before--but not currently...So I thought that Unity would be OK also---silly me:(

#7

Strange--now its working...a bit odd-working, but it is....so I'll mark this solved (kind'a)

Since I don't game or do heavy graphics I go with a lower level card (cheaper :) ) , a single 7600gs running the 260.19.12 repo driver .
