Well the Microsoft ones you show are larger, maybe that's the issue? What is ugly about the current ones anyway? What direction should the emotes take?

The image is not touched, not reduced, as i see them on my screen, i agree that they are too small, some people dont even understand exactly what it means because of the tiny size...

Here you have them in large. Large enough I think. It’s merely a choice to use the small ones.

My personal preference would be that picture emotes be disabled by default. What's wrong with using a decent text emoticon?
