Select file & file browser - differences

Hey, I've been using Ubuntu for about a week, It works well But there is one thing that I found to be annoying - these are the differences between file browser (Nautilus) and the select file menu. Windows allows me to: rename, delete, copy, past in the file select menu, however Ubuntu does not.

_An explanation for skeptics _ Maybe you think that is not such an important issue but when you looking for some JPG file on your PC and you see that it is JPH rather then JPG. Then you have to open the whole file browser and look for this file just to change the name, because otherwise you will get an error like: 'JPH' format isn't supported.

It's funny you should say that. I had a need recently to move a lot of files which were scattered about my hard disk into one location. I can call them up in search easily enough in either windows or ubuntu but in ubuntu when I highlight the results and right click there is no cut and paste.

This is a very old bug in Gnome. In the past it has seemed that the Gnome/GTK developers believe users should just use their File Manager to manage files and use the "file-chooser" to choose files for opening or saving, but not renaming or deleting.
